Easter Weekend 2012

On Saturday we went to Hyde Park City's Easter egg hunt at a church near us. I want you to know all four of us were out the door by 8:30 am. That is hard for me to do when Coleman still keeps me up at night.

The hunt started at 9:00 am and ended at 9:02. No lie.

We went to the Buttle's for Wyatt's 3rd birthday party.

We then went to my parents' house. Kate and Evy did Easter crafts and decorated eggs. Evy thinks every color is green so she colored all of them "green".

We gave Evy her basket after breakfast since we knew she would never eat anything of substance for the rest of the day (and she didn't). Poor Grandma Elena tried to cut bananas into her cereal. That was a no go.
Ready for church. We go to my parents' ward by ourselves since they go to the singles ward. Evy asks on the way to church each week if it's time to play. She associates church with playing in nursery.

Don't ask Steve to hold a baby but he will entertain them. One of these boys is built to play baseball and one to play football. Can you guess which is which?
We had an Easter egg hunt in my parents' yard. We cracked confetti eggs over each other's heads.
Kate, Evy and Zach. They collected their eggs in the toy shopping cart Nelson's sister Crystal gave Evy.

March 2012

Coleman started giving us big smiles.

Evy likes to play with Coleman.

I took the kids down to my parents' house for a couple days and Winston and Coleman got to play.

We went fishing in Mantua last night because it was such a nice day. We met up with our friends Robin and Amber and their little girl Avery.

Evy and Avery

Nelson has always counted down until he could take his kids fishing. I guess the time has finally arrived although Evy can't do too much yet. She seems to like everything Nelson takes her to do. Hopefully this will last into her teenage years, right?

Avery spilled the container of worms and they were both little divas. They were both so grossed out by it. Thanks to Amber for putting them back in the container because I think they are gross too.

Nelson started our garden for the year in the empty lot behind us like he did last year. We figure it has been empty since the beginning of time, so odds are no one will be using it soon. We can't put it on our property quite yet because we are attempting to put sprinklers and grass in this spring and summer (heaven help us). Today we planted peas. Nelson is also planning on planting carrots, cabbage (yuck), radishes (double yuck), lettuce, tomatoes, and that is all I can remember. Evy helped by planting some peas and of course, stepping all over the garden. She also kept reminding Nelson to "be careful" while he was tilling. I had to give Nelson a couple of Aleves after all this.

Coleman's blessing March 4, 2012

Nelson blessed Coleman in our ward this past Sunday and our family all made the drive to come up. Luckily it was a warm and sunny day. He was a way good baby during the blessing and didn't cry. My Dad said he gave a big smile when Nelson blessed him with a healthy body.

Triple trouble. Jack, Kate and Evy (her attempt at a forced smile). Notice Evy isn't interested in food, which always happens when there are better things for her to do.

This is my crappy attempt at taking a picture of him really quick before he ruins the blessing outfit.

Karianne and Ben came with their one-of-a-kind spice maple bacon cupcakes.

Maggie and I demonstrating what not to do in a photo.

Bless Aunt Michele for bringing her signature chocolate chip cookies she made at the farm. According to her, it took 4.5 hours to make that many. Delightful.

Baby Coleman has arrived!

Baby Coleman has arrived! I can't believe I am putting this hideous picture for all to see, but I guess I have no shame. It was like 4 am and I had been up for 20 hours or so. Nelson is thrilled (and me too) to finally have a boy. When Evy came the next day she said, "That's a pretty dress mom!"

Nelson and Coleman

Just arrived.

He's in the same bassinet Evy slept in as well as all of Nelson's siblings.
My Aunt Jeanne pointed out he has man hands in this picture. They are smaller in real life, I assure you.

In his hat that the hospital gave him. Apparently a family that lost a child makes these for everyone, which is sweet.

Evy and Coleman. She pretty much thinks this is her cousin Winston. Maybe if she sees the two of them together she'll understand they are two different babies. She pays attention to him occasionally and likes to cover his face and grab his head.

January 2012

We have been bored and trying to find things to do in this weather. Nelson is bummed that there isn't enough snow for snowmobiling. We headed to Hardware Ranch and Evy loved it. Yes, it was super cold.

Meanwhile, we are waiting for this baby to come. We still don't know if it's a boy or a girl. We are still struggling to find a name. I think it's hard picking two. My hospital bag is packed, the room is ready, let's get this show on the road already. I still have two weeks but I am totally twiddling my thumbs in anticipation. I am tired of being tired and fat. I was much busier when I was pregnant with Evy. Now, I have too much time to sit around and think about it. I am still working twice a week and it takes me the following day to recover because I usually work two in a row and get up at 3:30am. It shocks my body. Everyone cross your fingers that it will come asap!

New Year's Eve 2011

I was supposed to work New Year's Eve during the day but ended up being put on call. I figured I wouldn't stay up but since I didn't work, I had no excuse. We went to Casey's house for a par-tay. This is my cousin Melissa, her son Hayden and my niece Vera.

Casey made pulled pork. Thank goodness it wasn't like this pig he roasted this summer that I had to stare in the face as I ate it.

Melanie made cinnamon rolls which were delightful.

Lisa, Vera and Nelson

We had a dance party after dinner. This is Sami and Evy.

Hayden, Jack, Spencer, Sami, Evy, Maddi and Simone. Happy 2012!

Christmas 2011

On Christmas Eve we went to our annual breakfast at Mimi's Cafe with the Ashworths. Evy loves orange juice.

I ended up working on Christmas day so Nelson and Evy had to wait until 6:30pm to open presents. This won't work in future years. Nelson and Evy came and had lunch with me at work because the hospital fed everyone. I didn't feel jipped. We did tons of stuff all of December and had a fun day. This is the kitchen Evy got for Christmas. She's been cooking up a storm ever since and she spreads her fake food all over the house.
We loved our Christmas tree this year because we cut it ourselves and it's super tall. It also stayed fresh and didn't drop any needles. Too bad we can't keep it and decorate it for Valentine's day. Nelson put over 10 strings of lights on this baby.
Nelson surprised me by buying me an entertainment center and putting it together while I was at work. I was so shocked and super excited. Our wall was so plain before. We are still waiting on the top and back pieces to be delivered.
Evy got lots of books and has loved reading them.
Evy got a Rapunzel doll which she refers to as "Barbie." She carries this thing everywhere and sleeps with it. Merry Christmas! At least I won't have to work next year.
