Tiling our house - January 22, 2011

We are trying to save as much money on the building of our house as we can, so we decided to do our own flooring (except for carpet). This is a great idea, but unfortunately involves a lot of family members. We owe Nelson's family and friend Russ big time for driving all the way up and spending their Saturday helping us. Nelson still has to do the kitchen this coming week. He's putting hardwood in (which he hasn't done before) and he's not looking forward to it.

This is Nelson's friend Russ from his mission working on the bathroom. Everyone cursed me when they discovered I bought 4 inch tiles for the bathrooms. They apparently take forever but they did these faster than the rooms with 12 inch tiles. Maybe it's because they did those last and were sick of it by then.

Nelson and Brett in the mud room that leads to the laundry room. We bought cheaper tile for this room and you could tell. They kept cracking. I guess you get what you pay for.

Mud room when they first started.

This is the entryway. Brett and Darren did this section. This is pre-grout.

Entryway again.

Evy was a trooper as usual. She was just bummed she couldn't roam around. She also didn't get a lot of affection from others because she puked in the car on the way up and reeked. I cleaned her up the best I could but only a bath and a washing machine can fix that problem.

  2. I just looked up where Hyde Park is and I don't feel as excited about this anymore. That is forever away!! How about South Jordan, UT?

  3. Paige, you added onto your house? Also, I know it's far away but I have to go where Nelson's job is. I really hope I can gain a good attitude about it.

  4. Doesn't Nelson know the good news? Our "president" (and I'll use that term VERY loosely) believes that we can all live for free off the system. So tell him to submit his resignation tomorrow and buy a house in South Jordan the next day!! Hello welfare!!

I haven't blogged about the addition at all. I need to do that. We started July 1st. Added on almost 1000 square feet. And just for fun we redid the yard entirely at the same time.

    It's been a gas!
