Christmas Eve and Christmas 2009

We started out eating breakfast with the Ashworths at Mimi's Cafe. We then went to my parents' house. My mom insisted we make a snowman. Casey kept telling her the snow wasn't right for making a snowman, but by golly we made one anyway. Jack, Casey, Sami, Elena and Melanie

Sami, Maddi and Jack

It was Sami's idea to spray Mickey pink with a squirt bottle. This ended up being a snow mouse instead of a snowman. Indeed it wasn't good snow for a snowman.

Casey looking sexy while making our snow mouse. He and Ivun took themselves shopping recently and got themselves each a pair of wranglers. Just because they're loose fit doesn't make it okay.

Have mercy.

For my Christmas wish can Santa get rid of Casey's boots for me too?

Back at the Ashworth's that evening ( We go back and forth. It works nicely as long as no one moves) Ben, Karlene, Paige, Sawyer and Linley

Nelson's great uncle Leonard holding Evy

Christmas day. We had breakfast over at Nelson's sister Cheryl's house. She lives right by Nelson's parents in Lehi, also convenient. Sara and Evy

Gene, Karlene, Pete, Cheryl, Leonard, Dirk, Katy (Pete's parents) and Nelson

Hailey eating breakfast. At the restaurant the day before, the waitress thought she was Nelson and my child. It's happened before.

Later that day we went to my parents' house for aebleskiver. (The r is plural as my dad always says, so to say aebleskivers is incorrect but I say it anyways to bother him)

This pan was kind of a dud. They look better than this. I got my own pan for Christmas this year.

Maggie and Brian gave Steve his favorite gift this year - a blown up version of himself. His dream - our nightmare. He put it by the back door and when letting Taggert out to the bathroom he barked at it and wouldn't go outside until we moved it. It scared him. Doesn't it frighten us all?

Stacey and Michele came to visit and yes, they are playing Farmville on Facebook.

Holly and her favorite present this year, baby Evy. Grandma McFarland sent this hat to Evy.

Ashworth Family Christmas Party Dec. 20, 2009

We had our annual Christmas party at Gene and Karlene's neighborhood clubhouse.
Uncle Leonard came from Ogden to visit. Crystal and Dan (Poor Dan had a migraine)

We did the nativity scene. Sara was Mary and Evy was baby Jesus

We played a white elephant game.

Darren, Gene, Crystal, Ben and Dan

This is the candy bar game. You put on gloves and use knives. You try to open the candy bar and eat as much as you can before the next person rolls doubles on the dice and steals it from you. This game almost makes me want to barf because we play it after eating our huge dinner.
L-R Chase, Chandler and Pete

Chandler, Pete, Brett, Cheryl

Nelson was really into making his gingerbread house this year. Linley and Nelson were partners. Linley was mostly interested in eating the candy.

Warming up by the fireplace.

Holly and Evy. I am not sure why it looks like I have a mustache here. Pretty.

Sara, Paige and Linley

We all told our favorite Christmas memory. Nelson's was of when he got a rifle one year as a kid (big suprise) and mine was singing karaoke to ABBA last year with my family.

Nelson and Evy took a little nap before the party

We did the cooking a couple days before the party. Evy took a nap in the other room. I found her like this asleep

Evy. She's getting a bit of a tummy

Stephanie, Kim, Evy, Lindsey and Mike. We were having our annual white elephant exchange here. I got a windshield scraper with a mitten attached and a pie server shaped like a leopard print high heel. I loved it.

Large Marge thought it would be fun to take each others' picture. It sure was.

Favorite Christmas Songs

Just to inform everyone of my holiday song picks. My favorite songs include "Oh Holy Night" by Josh Groban or Celine Dion. I also love anything by the Jackson 5 (Michael was spectacular even as a little boy "But I did see Mommy kissing Santa Claus, I really did!") I also love the song "Still" although I am not sure who sings it. I like the Tabs version of course but there is a guy who sings it well. He may be local. Another one not to forget is Stevie Wonder. He was made for Christmas songs. I also don't mind Clay Aiken - there I have said it. It just proves if you can't come up with good songs to sing on your own, you can always just make a Christmas album. And if you want a super fun oldy song, try "I want a hippopotamus for Christmas" and sing it like Betty Boop. Always a winner.

Now for the worst Christmas songs...

Christina Aguilera - Where do I begin? Her songs are too breathy. It takes her ten minutes just to belt out one line. It's painful to listen to.

I am sorry but everyone knows that if any song sung by Gloria Estephan comes on the radio, Christmas or not, they are instructed to change the station immediately. Her voice drives me nuts.

And the worst Christmas song ever? Hands down (or feet if you will) it's Christmas Shoes. To make it even worse, they turned it into a movie! Awful!
