Tiling our house - January 22, 2011

We are trying to save as much money on the building of our house as we can, so we decided to do our own flooring (except for carpet). This is a great idea, but unfortunately involves a lot of family members. We owe Nelson's family and friend Russ big time for driving all the way up and spending their Saturday helping us. Nelson still has to do the kitchen this coming week. He's putting hardwood in (which he hasn't done before) and he's not looking forward to it.

This is Nelson's friend Russ from his mission working on the bathroom. Everyone cursed me when they discovered I bought 4 inch tiles for the bathrooms. They apparently take forever but they did these faster than the rooms with 12 inch tiles. Maybe it's because they did those last and were sick of it by then.

Nelson and Brett in the mud room that leads to the laundry room. We bought cheaper tile for this room and you could tell. They kept cracking. I guess you get what you pay for.

Mud room when they first started.

This is the entryway. Brett and Darren did this section. This is pre-grout.

Entryway again.

Evy was a trooper as usual. She was just bummed she couldn't roam around. She also didn't get a lot of affection from others because she puked in the car on the way up and reeked. I cleaned her up the best I could but only a bath and a washing machine can fix that problem.

Weapon of Mass Destruction Jan. 20, 2011

Who knew that a little girl could be soooo messy? She has a talent. This is after two bites of a cookie. She somehow got it all over her pants and socks as well.

The next pictures are all in one day. She unraveled a roll of toilet paper while I was changing the laundry. I decided to take pictures of all of her messes today because it's so unbelievable.

She emptied the wipes while I let Taggert out.

My Dad's cliff notes collection. Good thing he wasn't home.

Video tapes fiasco. Where was I during all this you ask? Well first of all I had the flu and was just grateful she was entertaining herself. Second, she does all this in two seconds or less. Sometimes the destruction occurs just while I am in the bathroom. P.S. This was not all of her messes today, just all I felt like documenting.

Hyde Park Home

Nelson and I went to see the progress of our home in Hyde Park last Tuesday. This is actually a picture Nelson took a few weeks ago. It now has a covering around it.

This was last Tuesday. This is the back of our house.

This is the view from the back of the house.
There were deer tracks everywhere. Yeah for Nelson!

This is the east side of our house. We are the first house on the next street to face south. So our neighbor's backyard faces the side of our house.

This is it now. It was a muddy mess. I don't know how the workers stand working in such cold weather. Kudos to them. This is where I will put all my flamingos and garden gnomes.

This is in front of our house. There will eventually be houses across from us. Behind those houses will be an elementary school.

This is the west side of our house. That road will open up someday. There is a canal along there as well although you can't see it in this picture.
